Muslim Youth Leadership Symposium (MYLS)- Empower. Mobilize. Lead.

MYLS (Muslim Youth Leadership Symposium) is a program that CAIR-St. Louis has now adopted and are proud to bring it to the city of St. Louis. Our vision is to train our Muslim youth to become the social and civil rights activists, community leaders, and religious liaisons of tomorrow. This leadership training is for high school juniors and seniors, college students, and young professions through workshops, roundtables, panels, and activities. CAIR-St. Louis has plans to expand the MYLS platform to include a program geared towards high school-aged students that will prepare them for the next level of education, provide guidance on campus activism, and be a venue for career counseling and development.

CAIR-St. Louis Holds 1st in a Series of Listening Sessions Discussing Immigration Reform

CAIR-St. Louis is dedicated to getting the American Muslim community involved with comprehensive immigration reform. We, along with our larger coalition with Missouri Immigrants and Refugee Advocates (MIRA) are working to bring out Muslim stories regarding immigration and participate in comprehensive reform. A large population of American Muslims are immigrants yet their stories remain largely unknown. The new immigration bill will dramatically impact the American Muslim community and CAIR-St. Louis is out to educate community members on what those impacts maybe.

(RNS) Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon has vetoed a bill that would have made his state the seventh in the nation to prohibit judges from considering Shariah, or Islamic law, and other “foreign laws” in their decisions.

READ: Anti-Shariah movement changes tactics and gains successBut rather than citing the usual arguments about anti-Muslim discrimination and the freedom of religion, Nixon introduced a new argument against such legislation, asserting it would make it harder for Missouri families to adopt children from overseas.

Today and tomorrow the House will consider and vote on 172 critical amendments to the H.R. 1960, the 2014 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).
